High Noon Update – Where Things Stand & What’s Coming
8 months ago – Thu, Jul 10, 2025 at 01:26:21 PM

Howdy, Partners,

It’s been a minute since our last update, and I want to start by thanking y’all for your patience and continued support. A lot has been happening behind the scenes to bring High Noon to the next stage, and I’d like to take a moment to walk you through where things are, what challenges we've encountered, and how we're tackling them head-on.

🏗️ 3D Building Kit Production

One of the major hold-ups has been in the production of the 3D building kits. While our prototypes were created using The Game Crafter, the factory manufacturing the final products uses entirely different industrial machinery – machines capable of printing and cutting from large sheets, not standard 8.5x11" paper.

Because of this, the templates I initially provided from Game Crafter didn’t translate directly (or at all). The factory has spent a considerable amount of time trying to recreate these templates to fit their format, and I only became fully aware of the complications a few weeks ago – right before leaving for a long-overdue family vacation.

To help, I spent several nights reworking the templates to match the factory’s specs.

That’s when we hit the second snag: the original artwork lacked bleed. This was because Game Crafter’s proprietary software generates bleed zones automatically – something our artist, who was working in 3D for the first time, didn’t need to account for at the time.

In hindsight, I should have anticipated this, but I made a call based on the assumption that the Game Crafter templates would be used directly by the factory. Unfortunately, a year later, that assumption has cost us valuable time.

Now, we’re left with two options:

  1. Ask our artist to go back and add bleed to every piece (a massive lift, especially since he's freelance and working other projects), or

  2. Let the factory's in-house designer handle the bleed based on what they already have.

We’re going with Option 2. The designer is full-time, trained for this exact kind of work, and has access to both the artwork and the updated templates. I’m also taking steps to speed this up: I’m shipping them full retail-ready Game Crafter prototypes to use as physical references. Just like sending out original Loot cards helped with card printing (more on that below), this should help accelerate final QC and alignment for the buildings.

🃏 Card Size Discrepancy & Replacement Plan

Another item many of you have flagged is the size difference between the Starter Set cards and the Expansion Loot Vol. 1 cards.

This happened because I used a different factory (one I’d worked with before on paper products) to keep costs down. Their QC samples were perfect… but unfortunately, the final run came out slightly off-size, and we didn’t discover the issue until after fulfillment.

At that point, I had two choices:

  • Reprint the Expansion cards to match the Starter Set

  • Reprint the Starter Set cards to match the Expansion cards

I chose the latter, even though it means reprinting 5,000 copies of the Starter Set cards. Why? Because the original cards already had a few issues in terms of clarity and balance that needed fixing anyway. Once complete, every single High Noon owner will receive a free replacement deck. That’s a promise I made, and one I intend to keep.

However, I ran into a snag when my previous card printer went silent – no responses for months. Whether they closed up shop or moved on, I had to accept they were no longer an option.

That put me back at square one, hunting for a new partner who could match the exact specs of the Expansion Loot Vol. 1 cards. After working with multiple factories, spending months and several hundred dollars in QC samples, I’m proud to say:

👉 We found a new factory who not only matched the specs exactly, but came in at a lower cost.

👉 To ensure accuracy, I shipped them a copy of Vol. 1 from our international fulfillment warehouse, so they’re working with the real thing – no guesswork involved.

👨‍👩‍👦 A Personal Moment – Living the Dream

During our family vacation this summer, I had a powerful moment that brought everything full circle. As many of you know, I created High Noon in the aftermath of a painful divorce – it was a light in a dark time and a dream to one day sit down and play this game with my son and my father.

That dream became real.

My dad taught my son how to play, and together – with my cousin and his son – we had an epic shootout during our annual trip. My son almost beat me, but we ended up teaming up to wipe out the rest of the posse. 😄

That moment – three generations bonding over something we built together – was the reminder I needed of why this has all been worth it.

🆕 Expansion Loot Vol. 2 – Sneak Peek

On that same trip, we playtested the Expansion Loot Vol. 2 cards, and… y’all. The level of gameplay it added was bonkers. This pack may have flown under the radar during the campaign, but it radically upgrades the tactical options on the table. I can’t wait for you to see what’s inside.

You don’t have to wait, though. The full set is already live and playable on Tabletopia. Just hop in our Discord and join the posse to try out the new Loot and the Bounty Missions expansion as well!

🏁 Next Steps
  • Factory is working on 3D buildings with help from prototype references
  • New card factory is preparing Expansion Loot Vol. 2
  • Expansion Loot Vol. 2 is ready for playtesting now

More updates soon. We’re turning the corner here, and I can’t wait to start delivering on these long-awaited promises.

Thank you – again – for riding with me this far.

Tiles and Buildin's, Oh My!
10 months ago – Tue, Apr 29, 2025 at 09:15:03 AM

Howdy y'all!

In case you missed my live update, you can check it here!

In the update, we went over a little tour of the 3D Bank and Jail prototypes that arrived! Since that video, I've also received QC samples of the Purgatory Tiles. Feast your eyes!

Don't they all look so purty?! I can't wait for everyone to break these all out on y'all's game tables! 🤠

We ran into some snags on the print files with the factory having difficulty lining up the cut lines our prototype vendor created. So this week, I just had our vendor create a single file the factory could use to cut from and I'm hoping this clears up that confusion. The factory is trying it out right now. I anticipate a bit of back-and-forth to get everything just right, but this should solve the problem overall.

Because of these delays, I wanted to open up a poll to give you all the opportunity to contribute to the next phase of delivery. Since the tiles will be ready as soon as I approve them, I could just ago ahead and have the tiles and cards shipped to me for fulfillment as soon as they are ready and then do a 2nd wave fulfillment of the 2D buildings as soon as those are ready. I don't anticipate this affecting your overall delivery costs much - if at all - so that's why I wanted to punt this over to you all because you've been so patient with me and this process.

So please give me your thoughts in the poll here. I'll also be posting this poll in my other social platforms to allow for maximum exposure to all backers to have your voices heard. But please only answer in one poll. I'll tally all of the results together at the end of the polling period (one week from today).

Against the Clock Update – Quick Note Before Tomorrow
10 months ago – Sat, Apr 19, 2025 at 04:31:54 PM

Hey everyone,

I’ve got a proper update coming tomorrow, including some long-awaited progress that I’m excited to share with you.

But with all the noise in the industry this week—from publishers shutting down to headlines about a 245% tariff—I didn’t want to wait to say this:

🛑No, the 245% number is not real.
🛑No, tariff announcements
do not apply to this campaign.
🛑And no,
nothing has changed with your delivery.

And even if a real tariff did drop tomorrow, I would never pass that cost on to you, nor use it as an excuse to abandon my commitments. That’s not who I am. It never has been—and it never will be.

I’ve clawed my way through tougher storms than this.

I’ll see you tomorrow with good news.

Delayed, Not Derailed – A Transparent Look at Where We Stand
11 months ago – Wed, Apr 02, 2025 at 03:32:50 PM

Howdy, posse.

I want to take a moment to give you a transparent update on where things stand with High Noon: Against the Clock. You’ve trusted me with your support, and I don’t take that lightly. So let’s talk about what’s going right, what’s gone wrong, and how we’re fixing it.

📦 SHIPPING DELAY & ACCOUNTABILITY

Our original goal was to have everything shipped by the end of February. Unfortunately, we’ve hit a major snag in production—specifically with the 3D Bank and Jail constructs.
Here’s the full picture:

My process is to work with a third-party company to create physical prototypes, which I then send to the factory for production. That workflow has always gone smoothly with cards and game boards. But Against the Clock introduced something new: fully 3D structures. And that’s where unexpected complications arose.

The factory ran into compatibility issues with the cut files generated by the prototype company—issues I didn’t anticipate. As a result, we’ve had to completely rebuild the cut lines from scratch. On top of that, there were visual alignment issues with some of the artwork that required multiple rounds of rapid prototyping and home testing on my end.

I want to be crystal clear here: this is not the fault of the factory or the prototype company. Both teams have done an incredible job and have gone above and beyond with their communication, professionalism, and commitment. The delays are the result of complex logistics and my own underestimation of what was involved in transitioning from physical mockups to production-ready files. I should have taken this part of the process more seriously from the start.

This is on me—and I own it.

Moving forward, I will not launch another campaign until the factory has successfully produced a fully approved, quality-checked prototype. No more guesswork. No more unnecessary delays. That’s my promise.

🤠 GOOD NEWS – THE FIRST PLAYER TOKENS ARE HERE!

On a more exciting note: the metal First Player tokens have arrived—and they are absolutely stunning. The craftsmanship and finish are top-tier, and I think you're going to love them as much as I do.

I’m also expecting a prototype of the Bank and Jail to arrive this week. Once I’ve got them assembled, I’ll be posting pictures for everyone to check out.

And once we finalize the new cut files with the factory, full production will begin immediately.

🎁 GET WHAT’S READY – EARLY SHIPMENT OPTION

A number of you pledged at levels that include inventory we already have in stock. While you may have initially chosen to wait for everything, If you’d prefer to receive that portion of your pledge now—rather than wait for the full bundle—I’d be happy to make that happen. It’s my way of saying thanks for sticking with me and to get High Noon to your table as soon as possible.

Just reach out to me to opt in if that’s something you’d like to do.

Thank you again for your continued support and patience. I know delays are frustrating, but I hope this shows that while hiccups happen, we face them head-on, take responsibility, and always prioritize delivering something worthy of your trust.

Yours in the High Nooniverse,

Season’s Greetings and Exciting Updates from High Noon!
about 1 year ago – Sun, Jan 19, 2025 at 08:05:01 PM

Howdy High Noon Family!

I hope this update finds you well and that you had a warm and festive holiday season, filled with joy and laughter. Whether you were celebrating Thanksgiving, Christmas, or ringing in the New Year, I trust it was a time of happiness and reflection.

Last week, I hosted a live stream on YouTube providing an update for everything so far. Unfortunately, a glitch in the streaming software kept the live stream going even after I ended it and I wasn't able to get back to my computer to shut it down until it was too long for YouTube to archive it. So here we go again!

Over the holidays, I cherished the opportunity to spend quality time with my son, which recharged my batteries for an exciting year ahead at High Noon.

We kicked off the season with a blast at Holiday Matsuri in Orlando, where we welcomed new faces into our posse and secured several pre-orders for our eagerly awaited new posses. Your enthusiasm fuels our journey, and we're thrilled to grow our community with each event. This weekend, we were honored to present High Noon at Dice + Diversions in Atlanta, an incredible 3-day gaming convention run by the awesome folks behind our flagship convention: Southern Fried Gaming Expo. We ran our first weekend-long tournament, using the same tournament rules as we did for the crowdfund as a dry-run for how we hope to run all tournaments and it was a rousing success with many attendees forsaking all other games, all weekend long to play round-after-round of High Noon from sun-up to sun-down to sun-up again! In the end, the winner of the tournament was a bright, young 14 year old who racked up 100 gold points! Yes that's $100 of my money he just took (ok...won fair and square) from me!

New Pre-Orders Live!

You asked for them and now I’m pleased to announce that Sitting Bear and the Bounty Missions are now available in the pre-order store!

For those who’ve been waiting, head over to reserve yours now!

First Player Token: A Game-Changer

We've introduced a new rule for the First Player Token, rigorously play-tested across our events. This token alters the gameplay dynamic significantly, compelling players to strategize several moves in advance, much like Chess. While we admit it's likely not going to be for everyone, we believe it will add a profound new layer to your High Noon experience and one you should try at least twice.

Because it's not as simple as passing the first turn on to the next player, the token will come with a simple rule card to explain exactly how it will work. Here's what that card will look like. Feel free to familiarize yourself with these rules, as well as playtesting the mechanic yourself with a placeholder "token" for now to get the hang of things before your shiny brass star arrives!

Project Updates

  • Clock Tower: Prototyping is complete. The factory has sent over several videos and images throughout the process and we are now currently undergoing Quality Control.

  • Bank and Jail: Prototyping is nearing completion. The factory has finalized the puzzle pieces and we are just wrapping up the artwork. What was shown in the trailer and in the photos on the campaign are actually older images based on the original artwork design of the starter set. The final artwork will be consistent with the new art style of the expansions and it's all looking gorgeous! Here's just a sneak peak at the front of the Jail building.

The barred walls of the jail cells, as well as the teller wall in the bank will be constructed of acrylic similar to Father Franklin's attack cone. I'm going to try and render out a mock-up with the new artwork as soon as it's all finished.

  • Purgatory Tiles: Now in manufacturing! We had a small issue with the resolution of the files sent to the factory but we identified the issue, got it sorted and the tiles are back on track getting printing.

  • First Player Token: Production finished and ready for action!

Now for the less-than-thrilling news...

Despite the progress, we are quickly approaching the Chinese New Year. This could potentially delay the projected completion date as all factories shut down for a few weeks to celebrate their holiday. If you're familiar with crowdfunding campaigns, you're likely already familiar with this common situation. If there's one thing I've learned in my experience with overseas manufacturing, it's how hard and diligent these people work throughout the year. So just sit tight as the factory staff enjoys their much-deserved annual recharge.

I'll still keep you updated with progress as it comes and there's still much to do in the meantime.

Here's to an exciting year ahead with all of you. As always, thank you for your continued support and passion for High Noon!
